What Exactly Is Fractional Ownership?

The fractional ownership concept was started in the early 1990s when the price of vacation homes in resort destinations became unattainable for most individuals. The concept involves matching individuals with the same interests and desires to form a partnership in owning a specific number of weeks or months in one property. The ownership shares can be as small as 1/12 (one week in each season) to ½ (every other week). All taxes, club dues, association fees, maintenance, and mortgage are split between all partners.
